Subject: Power Vampirism
Interviewee: Mike Wiviott, baseball fan and accidental super hero
Excerpt from Interview: The Parasite had attacked Green Lantern, I mean, Sentinel, the original one. It was at the sports show. Anyway, Parasite was starting to use the same green energy but he wasn't very good at it. I mean, Sentinel was whacking Parasite with green hammers, fists, nets, all sorts of stuff but the Parasite could only produce these fat blobby tentacles. The fight went on for a while. Most people fled but I got trapped in the batting cages. When Parasite landed near me, I grabbed a bat and swung it at his head. You know what happened? Parasite looked at me with this crosseyed look and then he collapsed. Out cold! I knocked him out!
Subject: Size Manipulation
Excerpt from Field Report: Hunting quarks isn't as easy as it sounds. First of all, at that size, the laws of physics aren't anything like what we're used to. Forget what your senses tell you—it's just your subconscious plugging in images for what no human can comprehend. Second, subatomic particles often act like they have minds of their own. They don't, any more than rocks do, but a rock in a tornado is considerably more predictable than an electron, and less dangerous. Finally, there are beings who live on that side of the ratio wall—and they don't always appreciate visitors.
Note: Remark by Ray Palmer (see file: Atom II) to an enthusiastic student.
Interviewee: Karla "Loca" Lindstrom (no relation)
Excerpt from Interview: I laughed. Yeah, it was stupid, but how seriously am I supposed to take a kid who talks to fish and has an eye tattoo? The eye tattoo thing is so 90s. Anyway, I pull out the blaster I paid my last heist to get and try to pull the trigger. I say "try" because fish lad looks at the gun and it's covered in ice. At this point I realize that the kid does more than talk to fish. I throw the gun at him and run like crazy for about ten feet. Then this wave comes out of the convenience store across the street and knocks me over. Before I can even try to get up, it turns into a giant hand, grabs me, and freezes solid. It was embarrassing. But I've gotta say one thing—Tempest is the cutest guy who ever busted me.
Subject: Speed Manipulation
Excerpt from "The Life Story of the Flash" by Iris Allen: Without breaking a sweat, the slowest man alive could suddenly outrace a beam of light, rocket across the ocean like a skipping stone...laugh at gravity...and pluck bullets out of the air as if they were summer plums.
Subject: Weather Manipulation
Agent: Henry Barr, Knightwatch
Excerpt from Field Report: Subject (see file: Weather Wizard) has been approached with an eye for making his weather-controlling powers a part of the D.E.O.'s defense and relief efforts. Given the subject's past changes from villainy to heroism and back again, it seems likely that he will agree to the Department's offer, but unlikely that it will stick.
